SKOPJE, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission (EC) is prepared to launch Macedonian accession talks, taking into consideration the significant progress that Macedonia has done on its European path, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Skopje Samuel Zbogar told a press conference here on Tuesday.

Zbogar said that EC Strategy for the Western Balkans, presented Tuesday by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and EU enlargement commissioner Johannes Hahn, offered a clear European perspective for all six regional ones.

Zbogar said large progress has been made in the field of reforms in Macedonia in recent months, while he also highlighted the significance of national consensus regarding the country's European perspective and support to reforms.

He said that all stakeholders should take part in these processes, including the opposition and civil society.

However, he said that Brussels would not allow the accession of countries with open issues. In this regard, he said that he encouraged renewal of the name talks with Greece.

"It is good to have dialogue. I believe there is atmosphere to solve this problem. We believe the process will be successfully completed. Talks are supported by the EU and they should resume in this direction," said Zbogar.
