SUVA, June 27 (Xinhua) -- A captain and two crew members of a New Zealand-based yacht were in Fijian police custody after customs officials found a large quantity of ammunition in a search on Wednesday.

The search was conducted in Savusavu, a town known as "the hidden paradise of Fiji" in the country's northern island of Vanua Levu.

Fiji's Revenue and Customs chief executive Visvanath Das said on Wednesday that they will continue to work with local Border Agencies and Customs partners in neighboring New Zealand and Australia to ensure Fiji develop best practice processes and procedures to combat illegal trade by visitors in the country.

This is the second search and arrest made on a yacht in Fiji within four days.

On Monday, the alleged owner of the yacht in which hard drugs, arms and ammunition were found during a joint drug raid last Friday at the Denarau Marina in Fiji's third largest city of Nadi has been remanded in Fijian police custody as the matter was transferred to the Lautoka High Court.

On Monday, an Australian national, who was the alleged owner of a yacht in which hard drugs, arms and ammunition were found, appeared in the Nadi Magistrates Court in Fiji.

It is alleged that the Australian national and another person imported 12.9 kg of cocaine and 34.4 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine tablets.
