HARARE, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF party cherishes its longstanding ties with the Communist Party of China (CPC) and wants to learn from China's success, said the party's spokesperson.

In an interview with Xinhua prior to the 19th CPC National Congress that concluded Tuesday, Simon Moyo said, "We take this congress to be our congress as well because we are so close to China."

"We want to take this opportunity to convey to our counterparts all the best and look forward to a successful outcome of the congress," the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Moyo, who is also Zimbabwe's minister of information, media and broadcasting services, thanked China for its support to Zimbabwe during the African country's liberation struggle in the 1970s and in the post-independence era.

"We have continued to enjoy these excellent and cordial relations between Zimbabwe and China," the minister said, adding that the two countries' ruling parties -- the ZANU-PF and the CPC -- should continue to strengthen their ties through frequent exchange of visits.

"I believe these visits should not stop. We should continue to hold workshops to exchange views and notes so that we can promote this solidarity between the two parties," he said.

The minister also highlighted China's growing support to Zimbabwe's economic development, saying Zimbabwe is grateful for the booming cooperation with China under the CPC's leadership.

In addition, the Zimbabwean official expressed appreciation for China's principled stand of non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, which was reiterated in the report Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered on Oct. 18 at the opening session of the 19th CPC National Congress.

"China has been an example to all of us and the progressive mankind. We take this position with great delight and great respect," Moyo said.

Besides, China's rapid economic development in recent years offers great inspirations to developing countries, including Zimbabwe, added the minister.

"There is a lot that we can learn from China in terms of its economic growth and we applaud for what you have achieved in such a short period of time," he said, noting that the CPC's fight against corruption is another area from which Zimbabwe can draw lessons.

The minister also called for greater cooperation between Zimbabwe and China in the area of media and information exchange.

It is important that China and Zimbabwe strengthen their collaboration in building responsible media that help build -- rather than destroy -- the world, Moyo said.

"We must avail information to each other in a responsible manner," he said.
