Myanmar-India private individuals' border trade hits over 1.8 mln USD in 9 months

YANGON, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's trade with India using private Individual Trading Cards (ITCs) via border gates amounted to 2.5 billion kyats (1.8 million U.S. dollars) as of December in present fiscal year 2017-2018, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Saturday.

With the use of ITCs, trade value between Myanmar and India through Tamu border point was 1.6 billion kyats (1.2 million U.S. dollars) during the period.

Meanwhile, the country's trade with India via Reed border gate amounted to 797 million kyats (586,029 U.S. dollars) so far.

In the present FY 2017-2018, the total border trade with ITCs hit 33 billion kyats (24 million U.S. dollars) through 12 border points as of the first week of January.

Since FY 2012-2013, a total of 1,402 ITCs have been issued so far.

At present, the country is conducting border trade with neighboring China through Muse, Lweje, Kanpikete, Chinshwehaw and Kengtung, with Thailand via Tachilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, Myeik, Hteekhee, Mawtaung and Maese gates, with Bangladesh via Sittwe and Maungtaw and with India through Tamu and Reed border gates, respectively.
