Vietnam's crude oil export down, petrol import up in January

HANOI, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam exported 400,000 tons of crude oil worth 191 million U.S. dollars in January, posting respective year-on-year declines of 21.4 percent and 13 percent, according to the country's General Statistics Office on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Vietnam shipped abroad 200,000 tons of certain kinds oil and petroleum products valued at 116 million U.S. dollars, up 32.2 percent and 54 percent, respectively.

In January, the country imported 900,000 tons of various kinds of oil and petroleum products totaling 552 million U.S. dollars, making respective rises of 3.5 percent and 10.8 percent, and 130,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas worth 80 million U.S. dollars, up 25.3 percent and 51.4 percent.

In 2017, Vietnam exported nearly 6.9 million tons of crude oil worth 2.9 billion U.S. dollars, mainly to China, Thailand, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and the United States.

Meanwhile, the country imported over 12.8 million tons of oil and petroleum products valued at 7 billion U.S. dollars, and roughly 1.4 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas worth 732 million U.S. dollars, said the office.
