GAZA, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Islamic Hamas movement rejected Wednesday a decision made by Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on holding its parliament in exile, known as the Palestinian National Council (PNC), at end of April.

The group said in an emailed press statement that holding the PNC with its current members in this particular time is a violation of the national consensus.

"The decision violates all the reconciliation agreements and understandings, in particular the provisions related to reforming the PLO on democratic basis and holding the PNC," said Hamas statement.

Hamas stressed that it is still committed to all agreements, deals and understandings were reached between the two sides, adding "mainly the parts related to reforming the internal Palestinian affair and reforming the establishments of the PLO."

The Islamic movement, which is not a member in the PLO executive committee, said that "holding the PNC under the umbrella of the Israeli occupation is very serious because many Palestinian figures who live in exile won't be able to attend."

Hamas also said that deciding to convene the PNC in Ramallah end of April "is a unilateral action that will lead to more split and more division and will empower and devote the black division."

Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee had earlier on Wednesday decided to call for convening the Palestinian National Council (PNC), the PLO parliament in exile, on April 30.

The decision was made during a meeting of the committee, which was chaired by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Wednesday.

Ahmad Majdalani, member of the PLO executive committee told Xinhua that the executive committee decided to call for the current PNC members to convene in order to elect a new PLO executive committee.

He mentioned that both Islamic Hamas movement and the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) won't join or participate in the PNC meeting because it is just a meeting for the PNC regular members, where the two groups are not yet members in the PLO.
