BERLIN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Werder Bremen extend their unbeaten run to five games after beating in-form Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 while Mainz and Monchengladbach shared the spoils following a goalless draw at the closer of the 28th round in Bundesliga on Sunday.

The "Green-Whites" have eased their relegation worries after reaping a crucial 2-1 victory on the late own goal from Frankfurt's David Abraham.

Both sides staged a lively opening stage and staged a fast paced encounter. However, the spectators at outsold Weser stadium had to wait until the 28th minute before the hosts opened the scoring when Thomas Delaney's cross found Zlatko Junuzovic, who made no mistake, inside the box.

Max Kruse had the chance to double the lead for the hosts but Frankfurt's goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky denied with a one-handed save two minutes later.

The "Eagles" regrouped and came to their chances through Kevin Prince Boateng and Marius Wolf but host's goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka was on guard to deny the equalizer.

Frankfurt came out strong after the break and their early efforts were rewarded with eight minutes into the second half when Luka Jovic restored parity after slotting home Boateng's back-heel pass into the box.

The visitors had the chance to turn the tide but Danny Da Costa squandered a promising opportunity from sharp angle before Bremen grabbed the late winner as Frankfurt's David Abraham deflected Zlatko Junuzovic's cross into the wrong goal in the closing period.

"I would have been satisfied with one point. It was a high-class game on equal terms. Frankfurt's performance was impressive," Bremen's head coach Florian Kohfeldt said.

"All in all, I am very satisfied although Bremen's victory is very lucky," Frankfurt's head coach Nico Kovac said.

With the result, Eintracht Frankfurt slipped to the 6th position whereas Werder Bremen continue on the 12th place with a ten-point gap to the Bundesliga drop zone.

Elsewhere, relegation threatened Mainz failed to grab vital points in the relegation battle after sharing the spoils with Borussia Monchengladbach following a goalless draw.
