ZAGREB, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Visiting U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions met with Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and regional officials here on Thursday to discuss security issues, according to a president's office statement and Croatian news agency Hina reports.

Croatian President Grabar-Kitarovic discussed with Sessions an agreement on avoidance of double taxation between Croatia and the United States and possible elimination of visa requirement for Croatian citizens traveling to the United States, which would strengthen the good relationship between the two countries.

The Croatian president also informed Sessions of the strategic importance of a future LNG terminal on Krk island. The terminal is supposed to contribute to energy diversification of Central Europe and strengthen the European Union integration and energy security, the president's office said in a statement.

Before the meeting, Jeff Sessions participated in a regional workshop on trans-national organized crime.

After the workshop, Croatian Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic said that Croatia is a key ally to the United States in this part of Europe, hoping to expand achievements the Unites States has with Croatia to other countries in the region.

Sessions is on a three-day visit to Croatia from Wednesday to Friday.
