NAIROBI, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's national women's cricket team will gain valuable experience as they lock horns against hosts Rwanda, Zambia and Uganda in the Kwibuka Cricket for Peace Twenty20 tournament in Kigali.

The four-nation competition will start from Thursday to Sunday and is organized to commemorate the victims of the 1994 Rwanda genocide.

Cricket Kenya said on Wednesday the team has completed its preparation and will fly to Kigali for the event.

Coach Peter Ong'ondo said the tournament will promote peaceful coexistence under the theme "Remember, Unite, Renew." Ong'ondo will not travel with the Kenya team, leaving the task to his assistant Lameck Onyango.

"The team has responded well to training during their camp at Sir Ali Muslim Club in Nairobi, and each player is rearing to go and exhibit their talent," Ong'ondo said in Nairobi on Wednesday.

The Kenya team will jet out on Wednesday night for Kigali.

Uganda will be represented by a combined schools team with their national side expected to focus on training ahead of this year's ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifiers set for the Netherlands from July 7 to 14.

Uganda faces a baptism by fire in their tour of Europe as they will come up against Ireland, Scotland and Thailand in Pool B.

Hosts Netherlands, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and the United Arab Emirates make the other group with the top two finishers from the tourney securing a ticket to the ICC Women's World Twenty20 in the West Indies from Nov 2-25.
