DUBAI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said Tuesday that the UN report detailing "the atrocities of Houthis and their criminalities on civilians" merited a response and review.

"Each crisis has its own political and humanitarian challenges, but it remains the basis of the Yemen crisis that the coalition, in turn, aims to restore the Yemeni state and preserve the future of the region from Iranian transgressions and undermine our security for generations to come," UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash tweeted.

In a recent report to the UN Human Rights Council, investigators said that the governments of Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the UAE may have been responsible for human rights violations in the war. They also pointed to possible crimes committed by the Houthi rebels in fighting the Saudi-led coalition.

The UAE is part of a Saudi-led Arab military coalition which has been fighting the Houthis since March 2015 to support the internationally-recognized government led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The coalition has been launching continuous airstrikes against the targets of the Iran-backed Houthi rebels who have seized the capital Sanaa and most of northern Yemeni provinces.

The coalition said Tuesday that it has referred the UN report to its legal teams for review and will take appropriate actions once the review is completed.

The war in Yemen has left more than 10,000 people killed, mostly civilians, and also displaced 3 million others.

The coalition blames Iran for backing the Shiite Houthi rebels and destabilizing the Arabian peninsula.

On Monday, the UAE denied Houthi rebels' claim of attacking the Dubai International Airport by a military drone.
