SAPPORO, Japan, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's star spiker Zhu Ting said here Friday that the Chinese team, mainly comprised of Olympic and world champions, won't be burdened by their past achievements, but will play the World Championship "from scratch".

The Chinese team coached by Lang Ping won the silver in the previous tournament in Italy in 2014, and went on to win the golds at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Regarding the past achievements, Zhu said that the team gained experiences from the past games but won't be pressured by the wish to replicate the achievements.

"Our coach Lang Ping often said that we need to start from scratch after we get down the podium. After one game ends, we prepare for the next one," she said.

It's the second time for Zhu to participate in the World Championship, and she feels that she has come a long way and grown a lot from the previous one.

"I hope I can bring out my best play in this tournament. It's also our responsibility as an athlete," she said.

The Chinese squad arrived in Sapporo, northern Japan on Tuesday for the upcoming World Championship to be held from Sept. 29 to Oct. 20.

They had a training session Friday at the Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center and will face Cuba in their opening match on Saturday.

China had won two titles at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in 1982 and 1986 respectively.
