JAKARTA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Members of families of Lion Air crash victims on Thursday complained on a requirement that they must abandon a plan to sue the airline and Boeing if they want to get compensation funds, a family member disclosed here.

In a rally outside the presidential palace, the family members demanded President Joko Widodo to help settle the dispute in the wake of a fatal flight of brand new Boeing 737 Max 8 jet on Oct. 29, killing all 189 people on board.

"We must ink a release and discharge document. If we have signed it, (it means) we may not sue Lion, Boeing," one of the family members Johan Haris Saroinsong said.

Despite many of family members have received the compensation, Saroinsong said that many others still refused to accept the compensation funds for rejecting to comply with the requirement.

"It is because of the requirement for not to sue," he said.

Under the country's law, the family members of the dead victims will receive a 1.25 billion rupiah (some 85,963.7 U.S. dollars), besides, the Lion Air has also promised to give an 80 million rupiah (about 5,76.1 U.S. dollars) in total of additional compensation funds.

During the rally, the families also demanded Lion Air to resume search for a total of 64 remains of the victims who are still missing under sea floors.

Previously, families of the victims have sued Boeing in safety case which culminate to the crash of the flight with number of JT 6-10 in water of Tanjung Pakis of Karawang district of West Java province of western Indonesia.

The Lion Air plane dove into the water 13 minutes after taking off from Soekarno Hatta international airport in Banten province on a scheduled one-hour flight to Pangkal Pinang of Bangka Island.
