ISLAMABAD, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the oil tanker-bus collision in Pakistan's southwestern sub-district of Hub on Monday evening rose to 26, local police said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Agha Ramzan Ali told the media that the death toll rose after 13 people succumbed to their severe burn injuries during their treatment at a hospital.

The police officer said that the incident took place when an overspeeding passenger coach collided with an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction in the Bela Cross area of Hub, a sub-district in the country's southwestern Balochistan province.

Most passengers suffered burn-injuries because the coach and the oil tanker caught fire following the collision, the officer said.

The death toll rose because the local hospital did not have facilities to treat burn injuries, a member of the rescue team said.

At least 16 injured are still admitted in different hospitals. Among them, five are in critical condition, reported local media, adding that the seriously wounded have been shifted to the southern port city of Karachi for better treatment.

The coach with more than 40 people on board was on its way from Karachi to the southwestern city of Panjgur when the accident took place.
