SHIJIAZHUANG, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Chongli's total fiscal revenue has increased from 440 million yuan (65.78 million U.S. dollars) in 2015 to 1.015 billion yuan ( 151.74 million U.S. dollars) last year with an increase of nearly 200 million yuan ( 298,993 U.S. dollars) per year since Beijing won the bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.

This was the first time that Chongli's total fiscal revenue exceeded 1 billion yuan, local authorities said Monday.

The Chongli district of Zhangjiakou in Hebei province, situated 200 kilometers northwest of Beijing, has become a popular skiing destination since it was selected to stage most of the skiing events of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Chongli has centered on the development of its tourism, sports, ice and snow industries as well as service since Beijing was awarded the Games in 2015.

The number of ski resorts has risen to seven last year from four in 2015 and the number of ski courses has doubled. Wanlong, Thaiwoo, Genting Resort Secret Garden and Fulong were listed as the top ten ski resorts across the country last year.

In January 2019, Chongli was selected by New York Times as one of the "52 places to travel to in 2019" for its booming ski industry.

Service industry has replaced mining industry, which was the mainstay before 2015. The tax revenue of service industry accounted for 71.4 percent of its total tax revenue in 2018.

"Winter Games has boosted Chongli's economic structural transformation. We will introduce various projects related to sports, tourism, health and culture this year," said Zhao Zan, chief of Chongli district.
