NINGBO, China, April 23 (Xinhua) -- World champion Kuo Hsing-Chun of Chinese Taipei showed her prowess by bettering three world records, including one from her arch rival Chen Guiming, at the ongoing Asian Weightlifting Championships here on Tuesday.

The final of women's 59kg category was billed as a battle between Kuo and Chen of China, and so it proved.

Kuo, the bronze medalist in the women's 58kg at the Rio Olympic Games, snatched the most of 106kg with ease to break her own world record by one kilo. Chen was closely behind by four kilos.

Chen, who set up the jerk world record of 136kg at Fuzhou World Cup in February, was not in her top form as she jerked up 131kg for a total of 233kg, while the 25-year-old Kuo also broke Chen's record at 137kg.

Kuo's winning total of 243kg thus broke her own world record by six kilos, which she set up in last year's World Championships.

"My coach said I should have done better. I got injured in the past so I focused on muscle practicing recently, ignoring some basic movement in the snatch," said Kuo.

"I can only give myself 75 scores (if the full score is 100)," she added.

Chen, at the same age with Kuo, took the silver, and Mikiko Andoh of Japan claimed the bronze with a total of 225kg.

"I didn't have a regular training recently because of injury. That's why I didn't expect much and chose to start with a less weight both in the snatch and jerk," said Chen.

"I didn't notice what Kuo did during the competition. But I'm confident to recover soon in the future," she added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Li Dayin of China won the men's 81kg title with a total of 363kg, and Choe Jon Wi of DPR Korea took the silver at 359kg. The bronze went to Denis Ulanov of Kazakhstan at 356kg.
