BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese customs reinforced the crackdown on intellectual property right (IPR) violations, with the number of seized goods suspected of infringing IPR rising significantly in 2018.

A total of 47,200 batches of suspected goods were seized last year, surging around 146 percent year on year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

Most of the seized goods were found in coastal regions in eastern China and concentrated on export sector, said Jin Hai, an official with the administration.

The seized goods were mainly involved in trademark infringement, including light industry products, shoes and electronic products, the administration said.

Chinese customs will strengthen IPR protection in 2019, to create a level playing field and sound investment circumstances, Jin said.
